CLIMBING & CLASSES      

   New Climbers  

If you’re over 18 and never climbed before, you can come to Mad Volume, have the face to face induction and be climbing within 15 minutes. If you feel you need more guidance you can come speak to a member of staff or one of your fellow Mad Volume climbers. One of the great things about climbing, is chatting to other climbers and learning from them, which is something we really encourage. Our staff are always happy to answer any questions on safety or technique. 
 
 

   Organised Climbing Sessions  

These sessions are free and lead by one instructor. To take part you must be registered as an unsupervised climber. These sessions are designed to help climbers meet other climbers and encourage peer to peer learning, with an instructor on hand to provide some gentle guidance, if required. 
 
 

   Social Session  

These sessions are currently suspended due to the fact that every night seems to be Social Night! Come down any night to meet new people and pick up helpful advise. Speak to Amanda or Mike if you feel like a Structured Social Session would be a benefit to have once more. 
 
Led by either Mike or Amanda, this session is for those who have been inducted and signed off as a competent climber. Every Friday at 7pm until 9pm, this session is a great opportunity to climb and make friends in a supportive and positive environment.  
 
We know that when you first start climbing you might not know anyone to climb with, so this session is designed to fix that. If you're looking to improve your climbing by picking up a few tips on technique, this session could be good for you as well. Again, the main focus is about having fun and learning from each other. 
 
 
 

   Women's Session  

Led by Amanda, this session is for women to meet one another, climb together and support each other in a fun, non-intimidating environment.  
 
This weekly social is a great opportunity for ladies to learn new skills and techniques from like-minded and enthusiastic female climbers. Relaxed and pressure-free, this session aims to build confidence and promote positivity for female climbers of all abilities. 
 
 

Non climbing Classes 

The exercise studio is equipped with yoga mats and callisthenic apparatus. It is free for climbers to use, except when there's an instructor led class on. 
 

   Yoga Classes  

Our yoga instructor, Ollie Wheatley, leads a climbing specific yoga session for all abilities. Best to book in advance for this class. Yoga with Ollie is every Thursday at 6.30pm. Check our social media pages for updates on this weeks session.  
 
Saturday morning yoga with Michaelle. This class is usually Saturday mornings at 11.00am in the main space of the centre. These classes are currently suspended, until further notice. Speak to Amanda or Mike, if you are interested in attending these classes once more.  
 
 
 

   Callisthenics  

These classes are currently suspended. Speak to Amanda or Mike if you would be interested in attending a callisthenics class. Equipment is still available for use in the yoga room.  
 
Our instructor Joel Wilkinson, leads a class designed to develop the muscle strength and grace of movement needed for bouldering. All equipment is provided in the exercise room, which is free to use outside of classes. 
 
 
 

   Location 

Mad Volume is based at The Worx (The Old Hull Daily Mail Building) on the corner of Spring Bank & Beverley Road, just a few minutes from St Stephen's Shopping Centre and both the Bus and Train Station.
